CMS Cancellation of Continuous Medicaid Coverage. What Does This Mean For Your Medicare Plan?

The Unwinding of the continuous Medicare Coverage
Medicaid Cancellation Risks

If you're on Medicare and Medicaid, this is vital information you need to know.

By now, you may have heard that as many as 15 million people who currently have Medicaid will be at risk of losing their Medicaid coverage—the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, known as CMS, have begun unwinding the continuous Medicaid coverage enacted during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Congress passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which included a provision in which people are continuously enrolled in Medicaid programs through the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The delinking process began on April 1st of this year and will continue through June 2024. As a result, states have started sending recipients of Medicaid and Medicare/Medicaid letters of cancellation or stating you must recertify to have eligibility.

Aside from a lot of panic, fear, and confusion, what does this mean for you?
